URGENT Call For Help!

Rainbow Journey got evicted on 11/26/2024!

After the passing of the property’s owner, we are losing our kitties’ home. We still have 35+ cats who need fur-ever families right away! Most are healthy, affectionate and love attention. Some are shy and take time to warm up to you, while a few prefer to be left alone altogether. A few have special medical needs.

If you or anyone you know has space in your heart – and your home, porch or barn – for an amazing new friend or two, please contact us right away! Either way, please spread the word to help us find good homes for our sweet babies.

Rainbow Journey is an end-of-life sanctuary for homeless cats in Kerr County, TX.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit, 100% volunteer staffed corporation. All donations are tax-deductible.

About

Until we are forced off the property, we will continue to be a never-kill, cage-free, lifetime care shelter for homeless cats of all ages and backgrounds. We provide them with medical care and a safe and loving environment so they may live the remainder of their days with peace and security, knowing that someone loved them.

The majority of our early cats came to us from Kerr County Animal Control; many were unadoptable due to age or medical conditions and were scheduled for euthanasia. In the past few years, many have come from TNR (trap, neuter, return) colonies around Kerrville, TX, including a large displaced feral colony at the Kerrville HEB; most had never experienced human companionship.

Some had been abandoned by families who moved away and “set them free” to become a stray, always searching for food and always waiting for their families to return for them. With patience, unconditional love and compassion, all have happily adapted to their new environment, complete with human and cat friends. Remarkably, thanks to this love, care, and trust-building, many of the less socialized cats are now incredibly friendly!

Rainbow Journey is situated on quiet acreage in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. A portion of the acreage has been fenced with special cat fencing that keeps our 90 or so kitties in and predators out. Also inside the fenced area are three large heated and air conditioned buildings for their comfort and safety.

The sanctuary has been operating continuously since 2013; in 2017 we incorporated as Rainbow Journey, a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Please contact us if you can adopt a kitty or help in any way!

You Can Make A Difference!

The thing we need most right now are loving homes for as many kitties as possible!

Food is our number one expense.

The cats eat approximately 250 lbs of dry food, 14 cases of regular wet food and 12 boxes of Fancy Feast every month – plus treats of course! We also love help with our expenses for shelter and yard cleaning, maintenance, utility and water expenses.

Our sanctuary also provides emergency medical attention, routine medical care, spay/neuter, vaccines, flea medication – all out of pocket. Our combined expenses run over $2000/month. Needless to say, monetary donations are always needed and gratefully accepted!

We also have an ongoing need for:

Blankets
Cat beds

Sheets – flat only
Bath mats

Towels
Gently used bathrobes

Cat trees and scratchers
Paper towels

Cat treats
Unscented litter
